Claire Varley grew up on the Bellarine Peninsula and lives in Geelong.

Her debut novel is The Bit in Between (2015) and she is currently working on a second novel to be released in 2018.

Her fiction and non-fiction work has appeared in many places, including Going Down Swinging, Overland, The Big Issue, Kill Your Darlings and a number of collections.

She works in the gender equity and prevention of violence against women sector and has coordinated community development projects in Australia and overseas, including remote Solomon Islands and with refugee and asylum seekers in Melbourne’s outer north.
